Holiday Treat
A festive flavor combination to celebrate any day as special. I love the swirl of flavors between the rich cinnamon pumpkin and the deep dark cacao, a combination the whole family is bound to enjoy.
Ingredients (use organic ingredients wherever possible) for Pumpkin Swirl:
Four to six large ripe peeled bananas
One large frozen ripe banana chopped in to 1″ pieces before being frozen
One cup of chopped peeled pumpkin flesh
(may substitute mamey sapote or raw sweet potato)
1/2 cup – 1 cup gelled chia seeds (covered with water for 5 – 10 minutes) –
the more you add, the thicker it is (optional)
Two pitted dates
Two sticks of chopped celery
Nutmeg to taste
Cinnamon to taste (I go generously)
A dozen frozen ice cubes
Purified water as needed to desired consistency
Ingredients (preferably organic) for Chocolate Swirl:
Four to six large ripe peeled bananas
One large frozen ripe banana chopped in to 1″ pieces before being frozen
1/2 – 1 cup gelled chia seeds (chia seeds covered with water for 5 – 10 minutes) –
the more you add, the thicker it is (optional)
One half of a ripe red apple quartered
Two pitted dates
Two sticks of chopped celery
Tender baby spinach leaves- a handful
SuperGreens powder – one small scoop
Raw cacao powder to taste ( 1 heaping tablespoon or more)
A dozen frozen ice cubes
Purified water as needed to desired consistency
Directions:
Place all ingredients for the Pumpkin Swirl in a VitaMix or other high powered blender with the soft bananas on the bottom. Add a little water. Blend on high until smooth. Add more water as needed to desired consistency. Set aside in a pitcher. Rinse VitaMix.
Place all ingredients for the Chocolate Swirl in the clean container with the soft bananas on the bottom. Add a little water. Blend on high until smooth. Add more water as needed to desired consistency.
Pour a portion of the pumpkin swirl into serving containers (mason jars or glasses) filling only 2″ of the container. Fill the next 2″ with the chocolate swirl. Continue to alternate until the glass is full. When filled to the top, use your finger or a straw to gently swirl in the opposing color. Serve and enjoy.

An incredibly nutritious and satisfying treat enriched by chia seeds, high in protein and good fat. If you prefer a low fat alternative, eliminate the chia seeds. A festive flavor feast, the cinnamon easily hides the celery while the extra fiber helps with regulating sugar absorption as does the cinnamon. Likewise, the rich cacao covers any bitter undertones from the SuperGreens,(loaded with 44 superfoods), celery or spinach leaves making for a delicious combination that tastes too good to be good for you too.
