BE. HERE. NOW.
To stay present in everyday life,
it helps to be deeply rooted
within yourself;
otherwise, the mind,
which has incredible momentum,
will drag you along like a wild river.
-Eckart Tolle
More than ever, it is important to practice mindfulness, to focus on what it immediately before you. In the present moment, you will find peace. In each moment, you will find that you have everything you need. Being consumed by the unknown fears of the future creates anxiety. Allow yourself to stay in the moment to do what needs to be immediately done right now. The present moment is all you really have.
If you spend life obsessed about tomorrow, you will be robbed of any peace today. Allow yourself to firmly ground in the moment. You might begin with deep breathing exercises to center yourself and to come to a place of gratitude for every little thing that is right. Having gratitude in the present moment creates grace. Grace is the gift of presence only you can give to yourself.
Take one small step at a time and observe yourself with every movement and every thought. Become the observer or the one who watches your actions and your thoughts in silence, become a witness to your life. Observe how much time you are truly present and how much time you are absent busying your mind or worrying about the future. Only you can harness your thoughts and instead allow your heart to guide you deep within yourself where you truly are at peace within. A mind full of gratitude is your gateway to peace; a mind full of worry is your gateway to anxiety.
Worrying does not take away
tomorrow’s troubles, it takes
away today’s peace.
-Randy Armstrong
