“We are indeed much more than what we eat
but what we eat can nevertheless help us
to become much more than what we are.”
– Adelle Davis
We take on the vibration of anything we ingest, whether it is through words we hear, images we see, or foods we eat. When we consider the quality of the company we keep, of the thoughts we have, of what we choose to watch or the foods we consume, it allows us to pause. Every day we have an opportunity to raise our vibration by improving our external environment which directly affects our internal environment.
I have eaten more than a few meals where I feel bad afterwards or spent too much time with someone that leaves me feeling drained. I’ve even sat through bad movies hoping they would get better, only to go away feeling disappointed at myself for not having left sooner. When I do not feel good, I can be irritable, impatient or even short tempered. In contrast, when I engage in things that make me feel good such as eating a fresh healthy meal, or sharing time with someone fun or watching an inspirational film, it is easy to be friendly, patient and accepting. I pay more attention now to how I feel. I notice how I feel after I eat and how I feel after I leave someone or at the end or even during a show. While something might be alluring for five minutes, the longer term repercussions are something serious to consider.
For our long term health, it is important to pay attention to how we feel The feelings we have today directly affect how we feel tomorrow or next week or next year. Every day we are either in the process of building or breaking down. How you feel will tell you if you are building or breaking down. Begin to notice the things that give you ill feelings and work on replacing them with things that feel good. When you feel good, you are easily inspired. There are no limits to what you can do or be when you feel good. Go ahead and try it for yourself. Practice optimism, surround yourself with people and experiences that feel good and foods that uplift you rather than those that bog you down. Give yourself the gift to become more than what and who you already are. When you focus on feeding yourself with those things that feel good, life just keeps getting better.
