May you feel the love that is within you.
May you share that love with others.
May you be blessed.
Valentine’s Day was always an awkward and sometimes sad holiday for me as a younger woman. I felt that if I didn’t have a love in my life, in the form of a partner, that somehow I was incomplete. This holiday seemed to affirm this emptiness. As a waitress in my late teens and early twenties, I would work while couple after couple would show up dressed or dolled up for the occasion. They would hold hands while gazing at each other and often conversing while waiting for their overpriced entrees to arrive. After sharing a special Valentine dessert, they would go home arm in arm or hand in hand. I, on the other hand, would go home alone and feel alone, failing to recognize the love that did exist in my life, the love of family and friends and most importantly the love of self. I have since grown to love my own company and thankfully the wisdom of my years has yielded deep gratitude for every day including Valentine’s.
May you tap in to your loving essence and pamper yourself today and every day. Treat yourself to fresh air, to a good book, an entertaining movie, a day at the beach, a long bath, whatever it is that makes you feel good. May you give yourself the gift of love. You deserve it and this day is for YOU single or otherwise attached. I love you.
